Pilar Garrido Corrales, born in 1939, is a renowned Filipino pop singer, songwriter, actress, comedian, and television presenter known for her distinctive backbend singing style. She is regarded as the “Greatest singer in the Philippines” and has recorded 135 albums over her six-decade career. Corrales has also achieved success in film and television, with her show An Evening with Pilita being considered a standard in Philippine broadcasting history. She was one of the first female artists to reach the top of the Australian pop charts and won an international music festival in 1972.
