Lani Bayot Misalucha, born Lani Dimalanta Bayot on August 3, 1969, is a prominent Filipino singer and television personality. Recognized by MTV Southeast Asia as “Asia’s Nightingale,” she is celebrated for her impressive vocal range and her capability to perform opera arias. Misalucha’s musical journey began as a member of a church choir, leading her to become a back-up vocalist for various bands. After gaining experience through singing commercial jingles and multiplex tapes, she released her debut album, More Than I Should, in 1997 under Alpha Records. The following year, she participated in the 3rd Asia Song Festival, where she was awarded Best Interpreter for her rendition of “Handle with Care.” In the same year, she signed with Viva Records and launched her second album, Tunay Na Mahal, in 1998. The subsequent year, she achieved significant recognition by winning the top prize at the 1999 Metropop Song Festival and released her third studio album, All Heart, in 2000. In 2001, she held her first major solo concert, Lani Misalucha: The Crossover Live Tour, at the Araneta Coliseum, which led to her receiving the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2002 Aliw Awards. Her move to Las Vegas in 2004 marked a turning point in her career, as she began a series of headlining concert residencies, becoming the first Asian artist to perform in a main showroom in the city. Her vocal talents have garnered acclaim from notable artists such as Dionne Warwick, Joe Jackson, Gladys Knight, James Ingram, and Whitney Houston. Among her other releases certified by PARI are Lani Misalucha (2006), Reminisce (2008), and The Nightingale Returns (2014).
