Aiza Seguerra (Ice Seguerra)

Cariza “Ice” Yamson Seguerra, born on September 17, 1983, and professionally recognized as Aiza Seguerra, is a multifaceted Filipino artist known for his work as an actor, singer-songwriter, director, and guitarist. After publicly identifying as a lesbian in 2007, Seguerra has since transitioned to become a transgender man.

On August 12, 2016, he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to serve as the Chairperson of the National Youth Commission.

Career
Seguerra’s career began at the tender age of three when he participated in the “Little Miss Philippines” segment of the television show Eat Bulaga!. He remained a prominent figure on the show from 1987 until 1997.

As a child star, Seguerra featured in over 30 films and television programs. He frequently played the role of the daughter of actor and fellow Eat Bulaga! host Vic Sotto in various productions. Notably, he portrayed Aiza Kabisote, the daughter of Enteng Kabisote, in the series Okay Ka, Fairy Ko! from 1987 to 1997. He appeared in only six films produced by Regal Films. At the age of 14, he participated in Bong Revilla’s Invitational Shootfest ’98, where he garnered several accolades in the sport.

In his late teenage years, Seguerra shifted his focus to music, showcasing his singing and guitar-playing talents. His single “Pagdating ng Panahon” achieved significant success in 2001, marking the beginning of his music career.

On July 8, 2008, Seguerra triumphed in The Singing Bee after Rachel Alejandro relinquished her title as the defending champion due to other commitments. He outperformed fellow contestant Bituin Escalante and subsequently won ₱1,040,000 on July 10, bringing his total earnings to ₱2,080,000.

Seguerra also showcased his talents in Singapore, performing in the Singapore Repertory Theatre’s production of the stage play Avenue Q.

On January 7, 2013, he participated in the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs contest, interpreting the song “Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa,” composed by Jovinor Tan. He delivered a performance of the song during the grand finals on February 24 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, ultimately securing first place for Best P-pop Love Song, which awarded the songwriter a cash prize of one million pesos.
