Martina Eileen Hernandez delas Alas-Sibayan, born on November 11, 1964, is professionally recognized as Ai-Ai delas Alas. She is a prominent Filipina singer, actress, and comedian, often celebrated as the “Queen of Comedy” in the Philippines due to her exceptional comedic abilities. Her most notable performance was in the film Ang Tanging Ina (2003), which achieved significant commercial success. The film’s acclaim led to the creation of a television series spin-off and three sequels: Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat (2008), Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!) (2010), and Enteng ng Ina Mo (2011), all featuring delas Alas in her original role. Additionally, she starred in the comedy film Our Mighty Yaya, which debuted on May 10, 2017, under Regal Entertainment.
In terms of her early and personal life, delas Alas is the daughter of Rosendo delas Alas (1920–2008) and Gregoria delas Alas, née Hernández (who passed away on December 30, 2013). She was subsequently adopted by her older, unmarried aunt, Justa delas Alas. Delas Alas obtained a degree in mass communication from Far Eastern University (FEU) in 1985.
She was previously married to actor Miguel Vera, with whom she had two children, and she also has a son from an earlier relationship with guitarist Hernan Jeng Jeng Viola. Prior to her acting career, she worked as a sales assistant in a department store and performed as a stand-up comedian in various comedy bars throughout Metro Manila. On April 3, 2013, she wed Jed Salang, a 28-year-old unemployed man who was 20 years her junior; however, the marriage lasted only a month, with delas Alas announcing their separation on May 19, 2013. In April 2017, she confirmed her engagement to Gerald Sibayan, and the couple married in November of the same year.
