Agot Isidro

Maria Margarita Amada Fteha Isidro, born on July 20, 1966, is professionally recognized as Agot Isidro, a prominent actress and singer from the Philippines. She is the fourth of six children born to architect Jose Isidro and her Palestinian mother, Edwarta Fteha. Isidro earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design from the University of the Philippines Diliman and furthered her education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she graduated magna cum laude in Fashion Buying and Merchandising. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in communication from Ateneo de Manila University.

Isidro began her career as a backup singer alongside her sisters, Olive Cruz and Tina Isorena, on The Sharon Cuneta Show. She was encouraged by Johnny Manahan, also known as Mr. M, to step in for the pregnant Melissa de Leon on the noontime show ‘Sang Linggo nAPO Sila.’ Her fresh presence quickly garnered attention, earning her the nickname “Crush ng Bayan,” or “the people’s crush,” as well as the title “the Julia Roberts of the Philippines.” She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Ingrid Martinez, the primary antagonist in the acclaimed 2009 television series, Tayong Dalawa, after which she transitioned to more benevolent roles.

In 2012, Isidro made a move to GMA Network, signing an exclusive contract with the Kapuso Network. Her first significant project there was the television series One True Love, in which she portrayed Leila Samonte, a bitter and scheming doctor who caused turmoil in the lives of Elize and Tisoy. In 2013, she returned to her original network, ABS-CBN, as a freelancer, making her comeback in the project Muling Buksan ang Puso, alongside Julia Montes, Enrique Gil, and Enchong Dee, while also appearing in GMA-7’s Titser. Following her role as Marian Rivera’s mother in Carmela on GMA Network, Isidro quickly resumed her projects with ABS-CBN after the show’s conclusion.
