Agaw Agimat is a renowned Filipino band recognized for their politically charged songs, which primarily focus on advocating for governmental change to benefit the populace. The band is based in Manila, Philippines.
The group presents a distinctive image and sound, characterized by a modern punk style infused with elements of big band-era swing. Established in 1993, Agaw Agimat began as a collective of musicians jamming together without a formal name. It was only later that they adopted the name Agaw Agimat, which translates to “seize an amulet.” Their debut album, titled R-15, was released in early 1994, followed by their second album, Patak, in 1996.
Comprising four steadfast members, Agaw Agimat remains committed to their alternative/punk genre, driven by an unwavering dedication to the pursuit of change. This commitment serves as their ultimate response to adversity, whether in music or in broader societal issues. The band members include QT Paduano – Nadela as the vocalist, Renmin Nadela on drums, Hank Palenzuela as the seasoned bassist, and Jephthah Wenceslao on guitar.
